The Dog Days of Summer and the Refreshing Wines of The Loire Valley Instructor: Anton Maletic

The Dog Days or Dog Days of summer are the hot, sultry days of summer. They were historically the period following the heliacal rising of the star system Sirius, which Hellenistic astrology connected with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, mad dogs, and bad luck. They are now taken to be the hottest, most uncomfortable part of summer in the Northern Hemisphere.

These Dog Days call for cool refreshing wines and France's Loire Valley fits that bill to a tee! At this class we will explore and taste some of the Loire Valley's bounty of summertime wines; Sparkling Vouvrays, Creamy Whites and Dry, Earthy Cabernet Francs, all served with a chill to tame the summer heat.

As is de rigueur, Chef Ryan Ries has created a delectable four course menu to compliment these summertime treats. Please join us Thursday, August 20th and end the summer with a bang! Six Refreshing Wines, Four Course Summer Menu.
