With a 4000 year history of winemaking you would think wine makers in Sicily would be the most experienced in the world for the production of quality wine, but up until only 20 to 30 years ago most wine made in Sicily was mass produced, co-op vinified plonk! Most of this wine was destined to be shipped to the mainland to be blended and sold as cheap table wine.
Not so today! Winemakers in Sicily have taken advantage of the near perfect winemaking climate and have begun making delicious, world class wine using their own unique indigenous grapes. There are six stand out varietals grown on Sicily; Grillo, Cataratto, Carracante, Nero d'Avola, Frapatto and Nerello Mascalese. At this class you will have the opportunity to taste wines made from each of these interesting grapes. It is guaranteed to be a fun, informative and tasty evening accompanied by a paired menu created by our new chef, the renowned Alejandro Arellano. Cost: $100 per person plus gratuity.
If you enjoy your meal service, a tip for the server after the class is always appreciated.
